Nishna Bend Recreation Area's Camping Cabin

General Information

Nishna Bend Recreation Area's camping cabin was completed in the spring of 2005.  The cabin overlooks one of the ponds on the west end of the park.  Some of the amenities include:  heating and air conditioning, exterior camper electrical hook-up, bunk beds and a futon downstairs, queen and full bed in the loft, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffeemaker, water cooler, a kitchen table with chairs, and a nice size deck with a picnic table.  Recently, we added a grill just outside of the cabin.  There is not a restroom inside of the cabin, but one is near..  This restroom will soon have shower facilities.  The cabin can sleep up to eight people.  

Reservations

Reservations can be made by phone or walk-in during regular office hours.  If staff is away from the office, please leave a message for Nick Preston on his voice mail at 712/744-3403.  No reservation is guaranteed from the telephone answering system.  Your call will be returned and a reservation will be made at that time.  Reservations can be made up to twelve months in advance. 

 Fees, Registration, and Cancellations

The cabin fee is $40.00 per night and payable to SCCB.  A $40.00 fully refundable damage deposit is also required on a separate check.  Cash, personal checks, or money orders will be accepted.  Please, no credit cards.  There is a $20.00 service charge on all returned checks.  All fees and deposits must be received within fourteen days of making a cabin reservation and should be mailed to:  SCCB, 516 Maple Road, Harlan, IA 51537.  If you must cancel your reservation, please call 712/744-3403.  If your cancellation is received more than seven days prior to the reservation date, you will be refunded all of your fees, minus a $5.00 handling fee.  If the cancellation is made seven or fewer days before your reservation date, you will forfeit one night's cabin rental fee ($50.00).
